NEW YORK CITY, NY -- A 22-year-old woman says she was "stopped and frisked" by NYPD in her Williamsburg neigborhood in Brooklyn. Cops targeted her for no reason, as they do hundreds of thousands of times per year, patted her down and harassed her.
Her encounter was even more disturbing than the average stop & frisk though. She says cops looked inside her underwear.
As she crouched down to pet a kitten on the sidewalk, a strange man in an unmarked car yelled at her. “Hey, stop!” the man yelled from inside a gold sedan.
“He was really aggressive,” Rosenbaum recalled. “I had no idea who he was, [so] I just kept walking.”
A man and woman ran from the car, threw her against it, and demanded to know why she hadn’t stopped and whether she had drugs, the suit alleges.
She says the strangers were hurting her and did not identify themselves as police officers for several minutes.
As passers-by gawked, the female cop lifted up Rosenbaum’s tank top, pulled back her bra and peered inside, the suit claims. Then, the cops peeked inside her underwear.
“Multiple times, the defendant officers threatened to take plaintiff down to the police station and write her up for [a] felony,” the suit says.
“At this point, I’m just sobbing,” the victim said.
